Clinical Support
Welcome to my Practice!
My name is Dr. Corissa White. I am specially educated in gender and sexual diversity. I am knowledgeable and supportive of various sexualities, such as kink/BDSM as well as non-monogamy and polyamory. And I have a special passion for working with parents and partners of gender diverse people.
It is so very common for folks in the LGBTQQIA+ communities to experience mental health concerns, included, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, insomnia, sexual concerns, and relationship problems. My practice is a good place to express and explore these concerns. We will work on solution-focused therapy to increase coping skills and functioning.
I provide letters of clinical support, in which a psychological professional expresses an assessment of symptoms and a course of treatment or source of relief. My focus is on emotional support animals and gender affirming care.
Currently, all my sessions take place via phone or video. This allows me to work with people throughout all areas of California.

Gender Affirming Care
Exploring gender identity and expression can be an isolating process. In an ideal world, society would be readily accepting and allow people to be who they are. Since that is not always the case, I aim to be a source of support.
Additionally, I provide letters of referral for gender affirming care. While a letter is not often needed now-a-days, I am able to do that as needed. This includes hormones, facial hair removal, and various surgeries. By and large, these are informed consent referrals: my goal is to support you in getting what you want from the medical field. I will need to ask you about your goals, expectations, and concerns, such that I can provide this information within your letter; this process usually only takes one session, but may take two.
Emotional Support Animals
Animals provide a great deal of support to people in general, and especially for those with mental health concerns. Your animal may be the comfort you need when you’re anxious. They may be the only one reason you get out of bed. Animals can be a best friend, a child, and/or a most beloved creature.
Finding/keeping housing with an animal can be difficult, but some landlords will allow otherwise banned animals if the animal is designated as an Emotional Support Animal (ESA). We can have a brief consultation to discuss your needs.
Recently, laws in California have changed such that providers need to have an established relationship to write an ESA letter. As such, we will need to have at least two sessions, a month apart.
Please note: these letters are only applicable for housing purposes; airlines no longer allow emotional support animals on planes. An emotional support animal is not a service animal, nor it is a psychiatric service animal. Service animals are protected under The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and are allowed anywhere in public; emotional support animals are not generally allowed in stores or restaurants.

Parents and Partners
It can be scary and stressful when a loved one is experiencing changes, especially when related to their gender. I am here to provide support. You can ask me questions that you can’t ask other people, or your child or partner.
Ask me awkward or poorly-phrased questions. I won’t judge you for your lack of knowledge; I want to help you sort through your thoughts and feelings.
Kink/ BDSM Relationships
Please bring me your concerns about BDSM activities and relationships. I am excited to answer your queries! This is an area I am especially passionate about and love to discuss: you may be trying to engage a partner in discussing your kinks, trying to better understand them yourself, or have questions/concerns about safety and practice. I also provide a non-judgmental space to discuss non-monogamous relationships. As long as all participants in any activity are consenting adults, I won’t judge you for your desires and questions.
Dr. Corissa White Bio
I got my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Washington State University. I then moved in California to attend the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University.
I got my doctorate of psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology. During my schooling, I was able to a variety of populations, including LGBTQ folks and older adults. Following my graduation, I started at an insurance company where I continue to work. However, I wanted to expand my practice and begin taking on private clients.
When I left high school, I was studying Zoology. As I neared the end of that degree, I realized that wasn’t what I wanted to do. After much deliberation, after turning within, I came to the conclusion that the thing I most enjoyed was psychology. My passion and concerns are the psychology of gender and sexuality.
In my off-time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our two cats. I particularly enjoy going for walks in cool weather and traveling.
